Reporting to the VP, Structural Engineering, you will be an integral part of the engineering team, developing and implementing technical solutions in both the office and field. You will participate in all project design phases, from proposal preparation, feasibility assessment and detailed design, through to tendering, construction, and commissioning. EastPoint is looking for an Intermediate Structural Engineer with 5 years of experience in the structural engineering industry with any marine experience considered a strong asset. Primary Accountabilities
We count on your expertise to:
- Provide concept and detailed design under the direct supervision of a senior engineer, for infrastructure projects including but not limited to wharfs, piers, commercial buildings, industrial buildings, institutional facilities, and bridges.
- Review drawings, plans and change orders to verify structural integrity of materials and designs and perform complex calculations and use modelling methods to ensure accurate results.
- Interpretation of Geotechnical Reports, bathymetric and topographical studies to perform various types of foundation design.
- Coordination of design team activities, direct internal and external project team including drafting techs, sub-consultants, and sub-contractors
- Conduct feasibility assessments and site inspections, as well as prepare technical reports.

- Currently registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Nova Scotia or the ability to register with Engineers Nova Scotia.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from an accredited University required.
- 5+ years’ applicable experience in the design and construction of infrastructure projects including, but not limited to marine structures, bridges, and buildings.
- Experience with ETABS or similar structural analysis software.
- Experience with Optimoor analysis software would be considered a strong asset.
- Demonstrated knowledge of structural design guidelines and codes including: Bridge Code (CSA S6-19), Concrete Code (CSA A23.3), Steel Code (CSA S16) and Timber Code (CSA O86).
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with a high level of accuracy in calculations and design.

- Superior verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to travel to various locations across Canada, maximum 5 days per 60-90 days.
- All successful applicants must meet requirements to obtain a minimum of Reliability Status clearance through the Canadian Industrial Security Directorate (CISD) within 6 months of start date.
