Machine Design
Crafting custom solutions with precision
At the heart of any industrial operation, machines serve as the engines that power productivity. Designed-for-purpose objects, mechanisms and tools enable faster task completion, better use of resources, and consistent quality output. It's the key to using technology effectively, driving innovation, and staying competitive.
Our Approach
- Tailored Solutions: Every industry, facility and task within it is unique, and so are the custom products we design. We work through the nuances of each task down to the smallest detail—precise movements, pick-and-place operations, and intricate assembly processes.
- Site-wide Integration: Beyond single machines, our specialization lies in developing communication systems and integrated solutions that optimize entire factory environments, ensuring enhanced safety, efficiency, and increased production capacity.
- Adaptability at Core: Our designs prioritize flexibility and scalability, empowering clients to adapt to market shifts, changing demands, and technological advancements.
- Precision through Technology: Our iterative machine design process involves advanced tools such as high-precision 3D scanners, printers, and simulation technology. This allows us to design and test machines thoroughly before production, eliminating guesswork in the final product.

Building Performance
Optimizing spaces for healthier environments
Building performance integrates energy management practices throughout an organization and within its day-to-day and long-term decision making.
Our Approach
- Program Support: Engaging clients holistically, we analyze their energy usage, establish benchmarks, and provide recommendations on organizational targets and approaches to align with broader greening strategies and commitments.
- Buildings Engineering: Our multi-disciplined engineering team supports new construction and deep energy retrofits to meet desired energy performance targets—ranging from conventional measures (advanced HVAC systems replacement), energy audits, and renewable energy systems (solar PV and geothermal).
- Energy Modelling: Our engineering and facility program experience, combined with energy modelling software, enables us to simulate building energy and GHG performance. We can then quantify opportunities such as changing equipment scheduling and systems improvements.
- Commissioning and Recommissioning: Our Cx and ReCx Providers connect clients’ sustainability goals to energy efficiency improvements, such as upgrading HVAC systems and optimizing building automation systems.
"EastPoint is a leader in energy engineering in Nova Scotia and a trusted partner who understands the needs of the clients. They deliver solutions that help many of the largest organizations in Nova Scotia meet their energy savings objectives."
Dave Brushett, Manager, Energy Management Services, Halifax Regional Municipality
“EastPoint’s team is a one-stop shop for all of our engineering needs, including actionable and realistic retro-commissioning studies, which is not a simple task as most energy professionals will know.”
Mark Pasini, Energy Solutions Consultant, Johnson Controls
“As new technology, smart buildings and retirement increases the dichotomy between theorized and actual HVAC performance – I suspect Canada’s collective net-zero ambitions will only be pragmatically achieved by ongoing commissioning/ re-commissioning leadership from firms such as EastPoint.”
Andrew Gillese, Regional Sustainability Engineer, Department of National Defence

Every dollar spent improving a building's envelope can yield up to four dollars in energy savings over a building's lifetime.
Building Envelope
Protecting your building’s ultimate performance
Walls, roof, windows, doors, and foundations—when properly designed, installed, and tested—form a critical barrier between a building’s indoor and outdoor environments. A durable envelope addresses risks of unwanted heat, air, and moisture transfer. Without diligent oversight throughout project design and construction, these benefits are often compromised or missed.
Our Approach
We bring together our building science, design, and construction experts to manage the envelope as an integral part of a building’s overall performance.
- Understand performance requirements: We confirm the goals for the building and envelope relating to energy efficiency, durability, sustainability, and occupant comfort.
- Design to local environment: We factor in local weather patterns, temperature fluctuations, humidity levels, and precipitation, tailoring the building envelope's design and specifying proven materials for optimal performance.
- Integrate systems: Building systems may be working harder and less efficiently than needed if an envelope is not meeting its designed intent. We seek to eliminate inefficiencies in the building envelope during design and construction.
- Be involved early and often: Whether we’re involved as designer or as independent commissioning provider (BECx), we seek to be involved as early as pre-design to help meet the owner’s project requirements. We’re involved with drawings, specifications, and shop drawings throughout design and tender phases, as well as construction phase and testing.
EastPoint’s dedication, tailored solutions, collaborative approach, and expertise have played a pivotal role in achieving our goals. I believe that any organization looking for a partner to make a real difference in its housing and sustainability projects will greatly benefit from working with the EastPoint team.
Nick Russell, Executive Director, Dartmouth Housing
EastPoint’s thorough assessment and meticulous execution revitalized our buildings, unlocking hidden potential for energy savings and sustainability improvements. This not only extended the lifespan of our infrastructure but also ensured that we were in line with the latest energy efficiency standards.
