About our Opportunity
EastPoint is seeking a detail-oriented Architectural Technician/Technologist with approximately five years of experience to join our Building Envelope Commissioning (BECx) team. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with a multidisciplinary group of engineers, architects, and commissioning specialists dedicated to enhancing building performance, durability, and energy efficiency. You will contribute to the delivery of high-quality envelope commissioning services from design through construction and occupancy phases.
Key Responsibilities
Design and Documentation Review
- Evaluate architectural and engineering drawings and specifications for envelope components (walls, roofs, windows, waterproofing, air/vapor barriers, and insulation systems).
- Identify and document design or constructability concerns and provide technical feedback to project teams.
- Assist in developing and reviewing building envelope details and performance criteria.
Commissioning and Field Services
- Perform site inspections to verify the installation and integration of envelope systems.
- Participate in and document performance testing (air and water infiltration, thermographic, and adhesion tests).
- Prepare detailed observation reports, including photos, test results, and recommendations.
Coordination and Communication
- Collaborate with design consultants, contractors, and clients to resolve building envelope issues and ensure compliance with design intent.
- Review submittals, shop drawings, and product data related to building envelope materials and systems.
- Attend coordination and commissioning meetings, contributing technical insight on envelope performance.
Quality Assurance and Reporting
- Assist in preparing and maintaining Building Envelope Commissioning Plans, verification logs, and final commissioning reports.
- Support the development and refinement of internal BECx documentation standards and workflows
Skills / Training Requirements
- Education: Diploma or Degree in Architectural Technology, Building Science, or related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in building envelope design, construction administration, or commissioning within a consulting or construction environment.
- Strong communication and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites across Canada.
- All successful applicants must meet requirements to obtain a minimum of Reliability Status clearance through the Canadian Industrial Security Directorate (CISD) within 6 months of start date.
Technical Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of envelope systems including roofing, cladding, curtain walls, glazing, waterproofing, and air/vapor barriers.
- Familiarity with relevant building codes, standards, and guidelines (ASHRAE, ASTM, CSA, NBC/NBCC, NIBS).
- Ability to quickly identify and understand project issues and opportunities

Asset Qualifications:
- Experience conducting on-site field testing and diagnostics (blower door, water penetration, infrared thermography).
- Knowledge of Building Envelope Commissioning guidelines (ASTM E2813, ASTM E2947, ect,).
- Conducted Building Condition Assessments (BCA) focused on building envelope systems, including roofs, walls, glazing, and waterproofing.
- Performed detailed on-site inspections to identify deficiencies such as air and water leakage, material deterioration, and thermal bridging.
- Prepared technical reports summarizing findings, photos, and recommendations for remedial actions
