A successful project is a host of assets brought together with great engineering value, timeliness, and good sense. A project manager listens well to client needs, and asks the right questions to help prioritize efforts to speed, cost, or innovation. Then he or she brings the right resources to the forefront: skills, expertise, construction talent, estimates, design. From there, it’s a choreographed integration of it all, with room for flexibility as natural elements bring new challenges. Team members contribute a wide variety of timelines and considerations—from computer drafting to designers to field suppliers, the project manager makes sure that everyone’s time is well spent.

Projects

  • Maritime Link Switch Yard

Before travelling through the subsea cable to Nova Scotia, all the power generated in Newfoundland and Labrador comes together at a switch yard. EastPoint designed the foundations and the 30m high lattice fabricated gantry towers, where every main wire is hung when they come into the plant.

  • Maritime Link Converter Station

Part of a $600 million job, EastPoint was an integral part of building the Maritime Link, both in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador. The converter station buildings are 3,600 sq. ft. buildings, and designed specifically for a post disaster seismic zone which used an innovative super structure to suspend heavy equipment.

  • C.O.V.E Wharf

The C.O.V.E (Centre for Ocean Venture and Entrepreneurship) is a key part of the Atlantic region’s leading ocean technology industry, and EastPoint was a key part of bringing this important project to life on the Dartmouth waterfront. EastPoint developed the design-build plans and specifications on behalf of Develop Nova Scotia for the C.O.V.E marine facilities, including all marine, civil and mechanical upgrades. The project was managed to a tight schedule and regulatory framework, and in just six months, the 65-year-old wharf was renewed and ready for use.
