With over 30 years of experience designing, operating, constructing and maintaining commercial institutional and industrial projects, Hugh is accustomed to meeting large-scale challenges with innovative solutions. He has overseen the design and installation of some of EastPoint’s most complex HVAC, boiler, piping, and life safety systems for buildings, heating plants, and institutional/industrial facilities. In addition to his work directly with clients, he has authored a number of industrial studies, feasibility analyses, and pre-design studies evaluating alternative systems and energy efficiency.
He has managed fuel, electricity, water, and steam utilities for the major manufacturing complex at DSTN Trenton, including an energy audit and upgrade, an energy usage optimization plan, and redeployment from traditional to wind tower and turbine blade manufacturing. Other projects include:
“There are two key things that make a smooth project: 1) a commitment to staying on-schedule; and 2) making sure the scope of the project matches the original expectation. In both cases, it’s a matter of staying focused on goals and budget, from development through to the last day of construction.
EastPoint’s biggest strength is that we’re realists. We spend a lot of time in the field. We can visualize beyond theory to understand how things get built and come to life. Our designs are constructible. It’s always a good feeling when contractors—with all their expertise in interpreting blueprints—see and appreciate what we’ve designed and get straight to it without any confusion or back-tracking. Productivity and agreement on the job site is one of the ways we know we’ve got it right.”
